With endless stories concerning economic collapse, Diane Abbott’s racism blunder, right-wing Christians hoping to run for presidency, and the Anuj Bidve murder case, it’s easy to feel like there’s not a whole lot of love in the world. As a self-confessed romantic, this is something I find extremely sad. So today, I make it my mission to provide you with an escape from the sadness, disappointment and depression that the incessant flow of bad news can sometimes cause. So mes amis, here are three love stories to warm your heart and give you hope. Please enjoy.
Love Story #1
So imagine you’re called Sarah, and you’re going to watch a pantomime, let’s say it’s Aladdin. Now imagine your boyfriend, Phil, is in said pantomime. You’re sat enjoying the show, shouting “oh no he isn’t!” and “he’s behind you!” with the best of them, when all of a sudden the show comes to a stop. And then, embarrassment of all embarrassments, you are called up to the stage. You know what’s coming, it’s your birthday next week and you know full well that the whole audience is going to be singing Happy Birthday to you in approximately two minutes. You’re blushing and hot and thinking “I’m going to kill Phil!”, when suddenly Phil steps out from behind the curtain. You’re wondering what on earth is going on whilst Phil gets down onto one knee, pulls out a little box and asks if you’ll marry him. You say yes and the audience melts. I’m not normally one for huge public proposals but this was so cute. You can see the video here. Awwwww. (nb: video is a slow loader. Also this might not be accessible to those of you outside the UK sorry!)
Love Story #2
This adorable, smiling couple are Karam and Kartari Chand, who have been married for a staggering 86 years. Karam is 106 years old, and his lovely wife is 99 and they live with their youngest son and his wife and children. Their marriage is a potential record breaker for the longest ever marriage, and after such a long time they seem to still love each other very much. Their son also seems absolutely lovely, claiming “If my mother and father are record breakers, then they’ve made us even more proud of them than we already are. They’re such lovely people.” How nice is that?! The full story can be found here.
Love Story #3
This is my favourite one of all. It really needs no explanation except to say that this is a flash mob with a difference. Be prepared to get all smiley and melty.
Oh my goodness I love that. I love love! I hope that these three little love stories make your day that bit happier. Happy Saturday mes amis.

Oh you asshole, I’m crying my damn eyes out at that video! hahaha
Haha! I’m sorry! It’s so great though isn’t it.
